In May 2016, I was invited to solo with the Saigon Wind Ensemble by the founder of this group, Dr. Danh Pham. I had a wonderful time meeting some amazing musicians, touring Ho Chi Minh City, and experiencing Vietnamese cuisine for the first time (it is amazing). I performed Pele by Brian Balmages on our concert on May 27. Pele is a tone poem for horn and wind ensemble. It is a wonderful piece, and I had a great time collaborating with the guest conductor, Dr. Troy Bennefield, on this work.

Vincent Persichetti's "Parable for Solo Horn" is the opening track on my new CD "Solitary Freedom: Music for Solo horn. This has been a wonderful project. The solo horn repertoire for horn has so much wonderful variety. This piece explores a wide variety of sounds. It is an expressive work in its own, angular way. More tracks will be forthcoming, so stay tuned!

Thanks to Amir Zaheri, Music Director of the University of Alabama Contemporary Ensemble, I had the opportunity to perform this amazing work for horn, percussion, and electronics. Mark Schultz wrote "Dragons in the Sky" in 1989 to musically describe some text from Tolkien's Silmarillion which gives an account of the creation of Middle earth. Matt Shaver and Matt Marcus performed the percussion parts. This is one of my favorite pieces of horn chamber music, and I had a great time performing it with such wonderful musicians.

I had the privilege to be involved in truly unique project that resulted in a premier at the 2015 Southeast Horn Workshop. Amir Zaheri wrote "My Way, And How. . .," an adaptation of the classic Sinatra song "My Way," at the request of Charles "Skip" Snead. The work features two horns, piano, rock organ, electric guitar, and electronics. The performers were Skip Snead and Martin King, horn, Amir Zaheri, piano, Michael Wilk, rock organ, and Tom Wolfe, electric guitar. It was an honor to be a part of this project with such wonderful musicians.

This arrangement of Born to Be Wild for Horn Ensemble was the brainchild of Charles "Skip" Snead. Skip teamed up with Michael Wilk, the keyboardist of Steppenwolf and current Alabama faculty member to write this arrangement. The horn ensemble is joined by Michael Wilk on organ and Tom Wolfe on electric guitar. Wilk produced the electronic drum track that you hear as well. For this performance at Southeast Horn Workshop, we were joined by Adam Unsworth playing solo horn, and Gail Williams, who agreed to join me on 12th part 15 minutes before the performance. This was so much fun to be a part of, and I am so grateful to all the performers who helped make this such a memorable experience.
